六入

ṣaḍāyatana; [lang id =1028]六阿耶怛那 (or [lang id =1028]六阿也怛那) the six entrances, or locations, both the organ and the sensation -- eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind; sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch, and perception. The six form one of the twelve nidanas, see [lang id =1028]十二因緣. The [lang id =1028]六根 are the six organs, the [lang id =1028]六境 the six objects, and the [lang id =1028]六塵 or (sa) guṇas, the six inherent qualities. The later term is [lang id =1028]六處 q. v.

◆﹝出法界次第﹞ 入， 即趣入之義。 謂六根為六識所依， 能入六塵， 故名六入。 〔一、 眼入〕， 謂眼根為識所依， 能入於色， 故名眼入。 〔二、 耳入〕， 謂耳根為識所依， 能入於聲， 故名耳入。 〔三、 鼻入〕， 謂鼻根為識所依， 能入於香， 故名鼻入。 〔四、 舌入〕， 謂舌根為識所依， 能入於味， 故名舌入。 〔五、 身入〕， 謂身根為識所依， 能入於觸， 故名身入。 〔六、 意入〕， 謂意根分別五塵， 能入於法， 故名意入。 ◆六入者， 即六根也。 謂四七日後， 六根漸漸增長， 滿足此之六根， 能入諸塵， 故名為入， 是為胎中現在果也。 （六根者， 眼根、 耳根、 鼻根、 舌根、 身根、 意根也。 ） ◆謂從名色已後， 至第六箇七日， 名髮毛爪齒位， 第七七日， 名具根位， 六根開張， 有入六塵之用， 是名六入。 （六根者， 眼根、 耳根、 鼻根、 舌根、 身根、 意根也。 六塵者， 色塵、 聲塵、 香塵、 味塵、 觸塵、 法塵也。 ）

眼入色、 耳入聲、 鼻入香、 舌入味、 身入觸、 意入法。 六入是六根的別名， 入是涉入之義， 謂根境互相涉入。
